Casa Lucii's Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG is an organic white wine from the municipality of San Gimignano, province of Siena. The grapes come from Casa Lucii's hillside vineyards at 100–320 metres and are picked by hand. The wine ferments at controlled temperature and matures on its fine lees in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Fresh, floral and mineral. EU organic certified, with 3E Winery sustainability certification.
🍾 What makes this Vernaccia special
In 1966 Vernaccia di San Gimignano became Italy's first DOC wine, and in 1993 a DOCG. Its name already appears in San Gimignano's thirteenth-century records. Casa Lucii farms the grape organically, only on its own vineyards within the municipality.
On the nose: peach, yellow flowers such as broom, minerals and a hint of honey. On the palate it is surprisingly round, with plenty of freshness and salinity and a clean, long finish. Gentle pressing, cold settling and lees ageing keep the primary aromas and add depth.
