Chianti Riserva DOCG Uggiano is a characterful Tuscan red wine — produced by the historic Uggiano winery in San Vincenzo a Torri, near Florence, from a Sangiovese-based blend (minimum 70%) vinified according to Chiantigiana tradition. Deep bordeaux-red colour, complex bouquet of sour cherry, wild berries and violet with marked vanilla notes, elegant tannin structure and a persistent finish. Awarded Mundus Vini Gold 2020, G&G 2020 and Luca Maroni 90 points 2021.

🍷 Why this Chianti Riserva stands apart

The Chianti Riserva DOCG designation is reserved for wines that have undergone a minimum ageing of 24 months, of which at least 3 months in bottle. This is not a standard Chianti — it is the selection. Uggiano produces this wine at Tenuta Aquilaia, in a territory perfectly suited to Sangiovese in its most structured expression: tannins that are present but never aggressive, ripe fruit balanced by a natural acidity that guarantees longevity.

The result is a wine that stands up to the great dishes of Tuscan cuisine — from pici al ragù to grilled meat — but has enough personality to be enjoyed on its own, as a Riserva DOCG deserves.

🥂 Food pairing

Chianti Riserva DOCG Uggiano expresses itself best alongside the substantial dishes of Tuscan cuisine. Ideal pairings include pici al ragù, pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, grilled meats and Bistecca Fiorentina, trippa and lampredotto alla Fiorentina, game stews such as wild boar or hare. It also pairs beautifully with medium to long-aged cheeses and structured Tuscan cured meats such as Finocchiona IGP or Tuscan Capocollo.

For a complete territorial pairing: Chianti Riserva DOCG Uggiano with Bistecca Fiorentina Chianina IGP VBAC is one of the most authentic combinations in Tuscan tradition.

❓ FAQ

What is Chianti Riserva DOCG?
The Riserva designation indicates a Chianti DOCG wine aged for at least 24 months, of which 3 in bottle. It is the most structured and long-lived version of Chianti, with greater aromatic and tannic complexity than standard Chianti.

What is the difference between Chianti DOCG and Chianti Classico DOCG?
Chianti Classico DOCG comes exclusively from the historic area between Florence and Siena and is subject to a stricter production code (minimum 80% Sangiovese, longer ageing). Chianti DOCG covers a wider area of Tuscany. Both require DOCG certification.

At what temperature should Chianti Riserva be served?
The ideal serving temperature is 16–18°C (61–64°F). It is recommended to open the bottle 30 minutes before serving to allow the wine to breathe and fully release its bouquet.

How long can this wine be stored?
Store in a cellar at 15–16°C, horizontally, away from light and vibrations. Excellent already at the time of purchase, it can continue to develop in bottle for 3–5 years.

Is it available for restaurants and retailers?
Yes. Contact us at info@salumeriatoscana.shop for HoReCa pricing, regular supply and tailored conditions.
