Artisan Tuscan Almond Nougat — Floris, Lamporecchio | Salumeria Toscana
Artisan Tuscan almond nougat by Floris — handcrafted in Lamporecchio (PT), in the Pistoiese hills where the tradition of Tuscan torrone has been rooted for centuries. Whole almonds with their skin, lightly toasted, set in a mixture of selected honey, sugar and egg white — slow-cooked and hand-worked on marble. The result: a crunchy nougat, aromatic, cleanly crisp at every bite, not too sweet — nothing like the industrial version. 200g · €10.10 · No preservatives.
🍯 What Makes Lamporecchio Nougat Different
Lamporecchio is for centuries the reference territory for handcrafted Tuscan nougat — a small town in the Valdinievole near Pistoia, as famous for its confectionery as for its vineyards. Anyone who wants to buy authentic Italian nougat should look for three things that tolerate no shortcuts:
🌰 Whole almonds with their skin — lightly toasted at the time of processing, not ground, not pasted. The whole almond delivers genuine crunch and natural toasting aroma.
🍯 Selected honey — the essential heart of the nougat. Quality honey caramelises differently from industrial sugar, giving the nougat that floral finish that makes it unmistakable.
🤲 Hand-worked on marble — every bar is cast, levelled and cut by hand. Slow cooking and artisan temperature management produce that crunchy-but-not-hard, brittle-but-compact texture that industrial processes cannot replicate.

❓ FAQ — Tuscan Almond Nougat
Is Italian nougat (torrone) the same as nougat? Yes and no. Italian torrone is nougat — but there are significant differences in style. Italian torrone uses honey, egg white and whole almonds or other nuts, slow-cooked to either a hard-crunchy (croccante) or soft (morbido) consistency. Our Tuscan torrone by Floris is the crunchy variety — it snaps cleanly at the bite and is not chewy or sticky.
What is the difference between artisan and industrial nougat? Our Floris torrone uses whole almonds, real honey and no additives — hand-worked on marble following a traditional recipe. Industrial nougat uses almond paste, glucose syrup and flavourings. The difference is immediate at first bite.
Is this nougat crunchy or soft? Crunchy — this is the traditional Tuscan variety. It snaps cleanly and is brittle but not hard. If you are looking for soft nougat this is not the right product — this is a characterful, firm crunchy torrone.
Does it contain preservatives? No — exclusively natural ingredients: whole almonds, honey, sugar and egg white. No preservatives, colourings or artificial flavourings.
How long does it keep? Stored in a cool, dry place it keeps for several weeks. After opening, wrap in baking paper and consume within 2–3 weeks for best flavour.
Is it suitable as a gift? Yes — handmade Tuscan almond nougat is one of the most appreciated authentic Italian food gifts. Ideal on its own or combined in a gift basket with Cantucci, Ricciarelli and Vin Santo.
Do you deliver to the UK? Yes — nougat is shelf-stable and requires no cold chain. Regular and reliable delivery across the UK and Europe.
