l Tuscany Hedges di Mazzei was born on the estate Fonterutoli Castle, located in the province of Siena, on the hills overlooking the Val d'Elsa, in the heart of the Chianti Classico

It is made with grapes Sangiovese and Merlot in the same percentage, grown in the 6 hectares of Siepi, the best vineyard of the company. The Merlot grapes are harvested by hand at the beginning of September, while the Sangiovese grapes at the end of the month.

The Merlot undergoes maceration and fermentation for a period of 14 days, the Sangiovese for 16 days, both at a controlled temperature of 28-30 ° C.

Subsequently, the wine is aged in oak barrels, 70% new, for 16-18 months, before being bottled.

It is a monumental wine, defined by Gambero Rosso as "one of the 50 wines that changed Italy". The nose opens with rich hints of dark chocolate, while the palate is very well structured, with a complex and extraordinarily long aftertaste.

Ideal to accompany rich and structured dishes, it goes very well with stews and game. Perfect with blue cheeses, such as Gorgonzola and Roquefort.
